Mark is actively involved in the mental health court movement that is occurring in North America. In addition to consulting on the development of these courts, Mark has recently co-authored a textbook on the topic. While studying in the LL.M. programme at the University of Cambridge, Mark also completed a masters thesis comparing North American mental health courts with English court diversion programmes.

Following the completion of his studies in Cambridge, Mark will be returning to live in Halifax with his wife Sarah and will be joining the Public Prosecution Service to work as a Crown Attorney with the Special Prosecutions Section.

"Studying in the LL.M. programme at the University of Cambridge has been an amazing experience and I have really enjoyed the opportunity to live and study in England.

The law school has been fantastic; the level of teaching has been outstanding and it has been an honour to study under some of the world's pre-eminent legal scholars. It has to be said that studying in Cambridge is certainly made easier and more inspiring by the brilliance of the town itself. With its many historic colleges, sweeping green spaces, and tranquil feel, the town of Cambridge is an idyllic place to study.

Studying at the University of Cambridge has truly been a remarkable experience. The Rt. Honourable Paul Martin Scholarship has provided me with the means for this fortunate opportunity and for that I am, and will remain, truly grateful."
